Get this girl an agent!

Finan came to us to do some photos to try to see if she could get into modeling. Finan is a mother of two (Ummm, yeah.. That's not fair, look at how skinny mini she is!) and recently she was in a horrible auto accident the day before she was supposed to shoot with us. She had to reschedule, and luckily did not sustain any major injuries or injuries to her face. Anyway, check out how freakin AWESOME her photos turned out, she was an amazing model and I have no doubt that an agent will sign her in the very near future!

Thanks for letting us do your photos Finan, I hope you love them!

Crazy Life of the Wheelers!

The name of Kimberly Wheelers blog is "Crazy Life of the Wheelers" (See link on right menu) and she wasn't kidding when she named it that! Kimberly is a great friend of mine from college, we go way back. She has me beat in the children department, she now has FOUR children age 3 years and YOUNGER. Can you believe that!  Now, my dad was one of 9 children and I am one of 50+ grandchildren... so I am used to large families... But I don't know how in the world Kimberly and her husband Lonnie still have their sanity with so many that are SOOO young! Haha!

The goal of the day: To get all 3 older kidlets to sit in a chair and looking at the camera. Yeah right! It was all we could do to keep them from screeeeaming! At one point my photographer friend Gregg walked in. The song "Itsy Bitsy Spider" was blaring over the speakers,  3 kids were crying and screaming (Hudson could win an award for his scream) and yet another baby was on the couch. I think I saw Gregg's face drain of all color as he walked in to the studio... And he promptly turned around, and walked right back out! Let's just say Gregg won't be photographing kids anytime soon.

Anywho, we actually managed to get a few photos of them looking AT the camera and SITTING in a chair. For those of you that haven't ever tried to photograph children, it might be easier to get a giraffe to do a headstand. Next time we might actually try to get them to smile while we are at it... but first things first! And Kim, I totally think we should make this an annual event. It would be fun to do the same shot every year as the kids get bigger!

P.S. Hudson (the oldest) is in the process of learning to dress himself. Check out those shoes, that must have been really comfortable!!  Not!

PPS.. Kimberly is also an AMAZING artist, she does custom children's paintings for their rooms. Check out her paintings and cute cute work in the link to the right "Small Words Blog" :)

This is what most of the shots looked like:

We actually got one of them ALL sitting still!!!!

Okay, so some of my favorite shoots are headshot shoots. I don't really know why, but something about the challenge of getting an absolutely beautiful shot of some one's features just really has always been exciting for me. I think it is because we all have had photos in the past (school pictures, business photos, etc) that you just feel so disappointed when you get them. Everyone (no matter if you are a model or not!) has great features about them, eyes, lips or just an awesome smile that you wish could come through in photos. But 99% of the time we get our photos taken we are left with something un-unique, un-satisfying and just down right depressing.

My newest client Lindsay came into the studio today and told me that this was the FIRST photo shoot she had ever done. She was a tad bit nervous and didn't know what to expect. We had our awesome makeup artist Kelly Henderson give her some smoky eyes but kept the rest of the makeup very natural and pretty. I was very happy with the outcome, we were able to get some amazing shots of Lindsay! Here are a few previews!

Carrie's Headshots...

A few shots from our recent shoot with Carrie Smith (aka Mrs. Lance Smith for you CMT fans :) ). Carrie and Lance are 2 of the NICEST people I have ever met, not only is Carrie a gorgeous gal she has the sweetest personality to match! Carrie and I shot for an hour or so while Lance told us about his favorite video game, Guitar Hero. (Brooke and I are addicted to it too, Brooke can really kick some butt on it I have heard. Me, not so much.. but I still LOVE it!)

I have been trying to talk Carrie and Lance into taking me back to Arizona with them, they said the desert is beautiful where Carrie is from.... And how freakin cool would it be to do some Angelina Jolie/Brad Pitt inspired desert photos of them!?

Kelsey and Paul Witte's Wedding!

Kelsey and Paul were lucky enough to secure a wedding at the beautiful Cathedral of Incarnation (downtown Nashville). I have heard that this is a difficult location to get, besides the fact that it is a beautiful and central location, they hold regular masses which makes it very difficult to schedule wedding plans! Kelsey and Paul had a beautiful wedding and we managed to take group pictures while dodging the masses of people (no pun intended) walking through! Here are some previews, the rest will be posted very soon here!

Showtime Network + Cardboard Cutouts = Lots of Fun

Showtime Television Network was in town this weekend to promote their new show, The Tudors. I have watched two episodes and am now officially hooked! They wanted to do something that would be fun for everyone and also be memorable, so they brought with a few cardboard cutouts. Here are a few fun photos of Michael (one of our photographers/assistants) and yours truly. Haha!!!

Brand New Twins!

I had the pleasure of taking Griffin and Ethan's first photos. Not quite 4 weeks old, they were absolutely adorable and so easy-going. They had the sweetest personalities and didn't mind being moved around at all during their shoot! Thank you Katie and Aias for letting me capture these great images.

Taylor Swift Shoot!

We had the privilege to shoot the lovely Taylor Swift at her prom themed #1 party on Monday! She was dressed in a beautiful baby blue dress and looked absolutely stunning! I shot the "Prom" photos on the backdrop, Brooke shot the candids, and Andrea helped coordinate everything. It was a big hit and everyone had a ball. One of the candids that Brooke took is on People.com today, check it out!

Pierce and Jacqueline's Shoot

Pierce and Jacqueline came in today to do a photo shoot as a surprise for Jacqueline's dad's birthday (Pierce's boyfriend). They had the CUTEST outfits and were so photogenic! It was nearly impossible for me to pick just a few to post up here, they had so many great shots. They wanted something like a Levi/Guess ad look, and then some other candid photos. We had a blast (some piggy back'ing and face making was involved) and also got some fantastic shots.

We decided that Jacqueline's dad probably doesn't read this blog, so if you know him ... shhhhhhhhhh... don't tell him, it is a surprise! Haha :) If you would like to see more of their photos or order prints click here .

Stacey and James's Wedding!

I was very excited to be able to photograph Stacey and James's wedding on April 26th. Stacey and James met on eharmony and are one of the many success stories that online dating sites talk about! They had their rehearsal dinner at "A Catered Affair" downtown, then a fantastic ceremony at the beautiful Scarritt Bennett, and finished up with a kickin' reception at Musicians Hall of Fame! We were praying for no rain and we got our wish, there was not a raindrop in sight. We were able to get some fab photos at the dinner with the city skyline in the background, then some equally awesome shots at Scarritt Bennett and downtown at the Musician's Hall of Fame. We are still working on processing most of them, but here are a few from the dinner to give you a little preview! Check back soon, more will follow! Click here to see all of the photos from their weekend!

Audrey's 9 month photos!

I have had the privilege to photograph the Greer family since their first child Josie was born. Fast forward a few years (boy, I feel old!) and Josie is now a big sister!  Audrey is just as adorable and has the most agreeable personality, she is just a doll!  Here are a few previews from their shoot yesterday. By the way, Grit (Audrey's dad) is a fantastic bartender and can be found at The Palm steakhouse downtown. I believe he mainly works at lunch, so next time you are down that way be sure to stop in and say hello! Or have lunch!

We couldn't BELIEVE how flexible she was... Check out those feet.

I'm a slacker....

Okay, okay... So I have MAJORLY been dragging my feet on starting up this blog. We first signed up for the blog last October and I am just now finally getting around to starting to post. Nah, I'm not a procrastinator or anything haha.... We are always swamped (I am definitely not complaining :) ) and it seems that I never have enough time to even keep up with the day-to-day tasks, let alone anything else. Needless to say the blog has been last on my list, but it is something that I have really wanted to do... So I *think* (knock on wood) that we may FINALLY be caught up around the studio, thanks to all the hard work of Brooke and Andrea, so I decided to jump back into the blog world again. Yay!
A little side note: Please remember that I am a photographer, not a writer! (And there is a good reason for that... lol!) So please excuse any poorly formed paragraphs, improper English, incomplete sentences, sporadic postings, or just a complete lack of writing skills! (Yes mom.. If you see any improvements please email me...you're awesome.. :) )
Love you all and I hope you enjoy seeing what goes on around the studio!
Hugs,
Krista
